Sea freight increasingly environmentally friendly
Trade via sea continues to increase. Gigantic vessels are used to transport an even bigger number of goods. Very powerful engines are needed to make the ships sail. To limit pollutants and care for the environment and human health, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has introduced new rules effective as of January 1st, 2020. This means that the sulfur content of marine fuels is limited to a maximum of 0.5%. This is accomplished by either equipping ships with pollution cleaning technology or switching to alternative fuels with very low sulfur content. KLG Europe continues to optimize its processes to make transport as environmentally friendly and energy efficient as possible. In our code of conduct you can read more about our standards in the field of sustainability and other topics.
