KLG Europe invests in biodiversity with sustainable birdhouse project in Eersel
21 mei 2026
For the International Day for Biological Diversity on 22 May, KLG Europe is marking a new step in its sustainability journey. In line with this year's UN theme, "Acting locally for global impact," all sustainable birdhouses have now been installed in the KLG forest in Eersel. The project supports local biodiversity and actively involves the next generation in nature and sustainability.
Around 80 birdhouses have been placed throughout the forest, in four different designs tailored to different bird species. The variety creates nesting opportunities for cavity-nesting birds. In doing so, the initiative makes a concrete contribution to the natural balance of the area around our Eersel branch.
Sustainability in the broadest sense
This project fits within KLG Europe's broader sustainability vision. For us, sustainability complements, not replaces, our work on CO₂ reduction and cleaner logistics. Protecting ecosystems, stimulating biodiversity and taking social responsibility are also part of our approach.
The birdhouses themselves tell an extra story. They were produced locally within a social employment project, giving the initiative both an ecological and a social dimension. Combining sustainability, local cooperation and social inclusion is what makes this project especially meaningful to us.
The future starts with awareness
A key part of the initiative was involving the children of our colleagues. The KLG Kids were invited to paint and decorate the birdhouses, turning them into colourful works of art with great enthusiasm and creativity.
At KLG Europe, we believe in making children aware of nature and sustainability from an early age. They are the generation that will keep building a more sustainable future. Painting a birdhouse may seem like a small gesture, but it contributes to a bigger story: taking responsibility for our environment, together.
Building a greener future together
With this project, we want to show that sustainability is not only about large-scale innovations, it's also about local initiatives that connect people with nature. A big thank you to all colleagues, children and partners who helped make the KLG forest in Eersel an even more beautiful and biodiverse place.
